This is the opening. It has spoilers. Don’t read it if you haven’t read book two, or do, if you don’t care about spoilers.
And here it goes, hopefully under a cut:
You’d think that seeing your dad after ten years or so of not knowing whether he was dead or imprisoned somewhere or even living on Mars, you’d want to give him a big hug. Mostly I wanted to kill him. And then maybe hug him. Except killing him wouldn’t get me any answers and I had a whole lot of questions. Most of them starting with why.
Why did you leave?
Why didn’t you tell me where you went?
Why did you abandon me and the rest of your family?
And probably most important of all, why did you put a bomb in my brain to kill me?
