Next book club nomination
Okay, opening up the book nominations. Pick a book published since Jan. 1, 2012, preferably something you haven’t read. Anything is fair game. Nominations are open until Thursday at noon, and then we’ll start voting. The next discussion will be a little bit later, on April 13th. So lots of time to get reading.
I’m going to nominate Thieftaker by DB Jackson (aka David Coe).

I’ll second the choice of Thieftaker

Might have to skip this month’s discussion if it’s a book I haven’t read, so I’ll nominate Joe Abercrombie’s The Blade Itself, a vicious, delightful little fantasy novel. I think I forgot a description last time, so I’ll give you the basics of it – several “heroes” of questionable moral character try to defend their homeland, seek vengeance, and generally tear shit up as invaders threaten to destroy a country. The latter two books get way better, but the first one is still pretty great.

Sadly, that’s a 2007 book! Maybe next time?

Ohhhhh hell. Didn’t read the post, obviously. Durpa durpa durpa.

I’ll nominate Jacqueline Carey’s Dark Currents. Here’s the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Currents-Agent-Jacqueline-Carey/dp/0451464788/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1362503666&sr=8-5&keywords=Dark+Currents

I hadn’t seen that one yet. Whoa boy, you guys are going to make this a tough choice.

And for double the idiot points, I also completely forgot that the library does an excellent job with its interlibrary loan. So… I’m just gonna keep my mouth shut from now on.
Leslie
Libraries are awesome (and I’m not just saying that ’cause I work in one ;)). I don’t know how I would survive without interlibrary loan.

Hard choices! I enjoyed Thieftaker. And I loved Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel trilogy, so I’m up for more of her.
I’m going to nominate Julie Czerneda’s _A Turn of Light_. I’ve waited far, far too long for this book!
